Dr Berkman called me at home to make sure he would do a second opinion. I was seen by another doctor, since I wasn't able to see my doctor in December. Dr Berkman went over my myleagram and cat scan .

I really like Dr Berkman he's very thorough. I work with a lot of military & retirees and I mention his name to people that have similar issues.

In the name of being a conservative surgeon and the lack of insurance coverage for ADR, no discussion, outside of you're not a candidate for a fusion, was had. While I can understand the prudence in being conservative and the serious nature of spinal surgery, there were no options discussed to improve my quality of life moving forward. Beyond that, there were no questions asked about my quality of life; he suggested to get out of the military and a second opinion is possible. While I respect his expertise, his bedside manner, empathy, concern for QOL in a young patient, and basic/ common humanity is lacking.
